Despite the troubles Miley Cyrus has encountered in her personal life throughout the past year, she is still a role model in people’s eyes! The Disney Channel star received her first ever Global Action Youth Leadership Award over the weekend.
According to Digital Spy, Hilary Duff presented the award to Cyrus, which honors inspirational figures in the youth community. When Miley took the stage, she admitted that the former Disney star inspired her career!
“I got to tell you that I never thought I would get an award from Hilary Duff,” she said. “This is like a dream come true to me. She inspired me.”
During her speech, she left a message to her fans to follow their dreams, and not dreams that other people make for them.
“I want [kids] to do something they love,” she said. “Not something that seems like a chore because someone tells them that’s the right thing to do or what their parents want or what’s important to people around them, but what’s in their heart.”
Hmmm... sounds like she had a little something on her mind to say to father Billy Ray Cyrus. The father and daughter aren’t on the best of terms after his recent interview with GQ magazine, where he admitted that the Disney show Hannah Montana ruined his family.
